Man throws tantrum over reading light on Alaska Airlines flight

A Tacoma, Wash. man could face criminal charges after arguing with a woman about her reading light on an Alaska Airlines flight.

The 50-year-old man, whose name has not been released, allegedly asked a female passenger to turn off her reading light so he could sleep, according to The Associated Press.?The situation reportedly became an argument after she declined.


The Alaska Airlines plane was in flight from Honolulu to Bellingham International Airport in Washington state.

Washington State Patrol spokesman Keith Leary?told The Bellingham Herald that authorities questioned the man after the flight landed early Saturday, but he was then allowed to go home.?Leary also told the Herald that the man shouted expletives at people on the plane, but did not make any threats to hurt anyone.

According to the AP, the disruption on the plane could result in criminal charges, depending on what federal officials decide.
