The Sweet-Toothed Wife: Southern Baby Shower: The Party!

See Part I for the amazing decorations!

After I was able to soak in all the incredible decorations, it was time to start the party! One of the reasons why I was so excited for this baby shower was because family and friends from across the state and out-of-state were traveling to us, just to celebrate our little boy! I was looking forward to seeing everyone!

The party started with the food, of course! After we were done munching, my dad was the MC and had a few shower games for us to play. The first game was a baby name- word association game. He would give clues and people had to shout out the correct name. For example: First month of summer: June. Next, he had a biblical, name the parents or the baby game. He gave the name of the parents in the Bible and you had to shout out the name, or vice versa. Some were pretty easy, but others were pretty tricky. We had some smart people in the audience, however, who were not stumped and were able to rattle them off! The last game was Baby Taboo. We were divided into three teams and a member from the team had to go up and give clues to the mystery word. All of them were baby related. The games were creative and it was fun to laugh and fellowship with everyone. Sorry Jess- no melted candy bar in diaper game ;)

With the cake baker!

After the games, we opened our gifts for the little man! We received all sorts of toys and books, and necessities such as strollers, car seat, high chair and clothes. It really hit me opening up all the gifts that these were for our baby. Registering for the items or even seeing them on the registry online, they really don't have too much meaning. But looking over everything and picturing your own baby in that bouncer, or that swing, or in that outfit, it makes it so much for meaningful and special. We went into the shower without much of anything (besides fun outfits that we have been gifted) and now I feel like we have a lot of necessities and are getting ready for this baby. Our family and friends were so generous with their gifts and we are so thankful for every single item.

?Love you Emmy!

?Oh yeah- we got Sophie! This little babe is going to love the *taste* of rubber!

?Sing-a-majig?

*Weirdest and most amusing toy ever!*

I'm a little bummed that I didn't actually take too many pictures with people. By the time I pulled out my camera, a large part of the party had already left, so here are the photos that I was able to snap before everyone left.
